Technical Training Seminars

M & P Air Components provides the following Seminars and Programs

Fan Fundamentals (see Technical Bulletins for summary or contact us)

This is a 45 minute Power Point Presentation covering

  • How fans are rated for performance based on AMCA Standards
  • Description and characteristics of fan types - radial, backward inclined, forward curved, and axial
Fan Selection (see Technical Bulletins for summary or contact us)

This is a 60 minute Power Point Presentation covering
  • Definition and understanding of fan speed, capacity, pressure, power, efficiencies, & tolerances. Includes calculation guidelines for Fan Static and Total Pressure.
  • Summary of how fans are rated for airflow, static pressure, and horsepower
  • Summary description and characteristics of fan types
  • Description and characteristics of fan accessories and how they impact fan performance
Fan System Effects (see Technical Bulletins for summary or contact us)

This is a 45 minute Power Point and Product Demonstration Presentation covering
  • How fans are rated according to AMCA Standards and derated by installation practices
  • How fittings at or near the fan inlet, or at the fan outlet, can derate the intended fan performance
  • This presentation is highlighted by use of a demonstration fan system showing the effects of "good and bad" inlet fittings

Hood Design & Fan System Testing

This is a two (2) day program in the greater LA Area sponsored by Auburn University College of Engineering and supported by CEU Credits for all Attendees. This program uses the Industrial Ventilation Manual and consists of:
  • Power Point Presentations on Principles of Airflow, Hood Design, Fan Selection, Fan System Effects, and Fan System Testing
  • Classroom instruction and problem sets to calculate hood flow rates, entry losses, and hood static pressure. Both simple and compound hoods are addressed
  • Classroom demonstration of system effects on fan performance
  • Classroom instruction and hands on practice in taking hood static pressure measurements and Pitot tube traverse readings to determine fan system airflow. Both simple and branch duct systems will be used; all Attendees will participate in taking all readings and calculations.

The Industrial Ventilation Conference - UNLV Las Vegas & Auburn University

This is a four (4) day program at UNLV Las Vegas and supported by CEU credits for all Attendees. This program uses the Industrial Ventilation Manual and is offered at the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Non-Standard Air levels. Using a combination of Power Point Presentations and 24 hours of classroom instruction, this program covers:
  • Principles of Airflow
  • Hood Design - Simple & Compound Hoods, Flowrates, Entry Losses, Hood Static Pressure
  • Duct Design - Sizing ducting and calculating duct loss, including entry losses, branch entries, contractions, expansions, etc.
  • Fan Selection - Fan static pressure calculations and fan system effects on fan performance
  • Recirculation - Principles of recirculation of plant air
